The Historic Beverly Research Library and Archives is located in the Cabot House and includes books, records, photographs, and newspapers relating to Beverly and Essex County, as well as a large collection of maritime documents and genealogical records.
We offer you the opportunity to search our records whether to explore Beverly’s Old Planters and early houses in Essex County, consult our maps, directories and photos, or access our genealogical resources; you can do your own research by visiting the Historic Beverly Library and Archives during open research hours.
The Historic Beverly Research Library and Archives, located at the Cabot House (117 Cabot Street, Beverly, MA), is your gateway to exploring Beverly and Essex County history. Our collections include:
- Local and regional books, directories, and maps
- Historic photographs and newspapers
- Maritime and genealogical records
- Primary sources: diaries, letters, ledgers, postcards, and more

Online Research Requests
Submit your research request using our online form. Requests are processed in the order received, with acknowledgment within 2 business days. Most are completed within 2 weeks and delivered electronically.
Fees (1-hour minimum):
- Non-members: $25
- Members: $20

In-Person Research Access:

- $10 for up to 2 hours (Free for members, teachers, and students*)
Includes photographs, maps, documents, and other primary sources
- $25 for the first hour
- $15/hour (non-members)

Image Reproduction & Permissions
We offer image reproduction and permissions for both on-site and remote researchers. All fees must be paid in advance. A full fee schedule is available upon request.
