Member Mornings: Object Speed Dating at Hale Farm

Object Speed Dating: A Member Morning at Hale Farm

What if the objects in our collection could tell you their life stories but only after you asked the right questions?

Join us for a wonderfully silly, hands-on member morning that puts you in the historian’s seat. We’ll scatter 10 objects around Hale Farm, each accompanied by a card offering just a few basic clues. Your job? Get to know your mystery object.

In small groups, you’ll rotate from object to object, considering:

What do you think it is?
Who might have used it?
What does it tell us about the past?
What questions does it raise?

Then comes the big reveal! We’ll share the answers, uncover the stories behind the objects, and see how close—or wonderfully far off—your guesses were.

Think of it as speed dating, but with historic objects. Some will be love at first sight. Others may leave you thinking, “It’s not you, it’s me. I just don’t understand what you are.”

This playful program is a chance to look closely, ask questions, share ideas, and discover how much history can be hidden in an everyday object. No prior knowledge required, just curiosity and a willingness to fall in love with the collection.

Members only. Come ready to investigate, speculate, and meet some fascinating objects! Free with HB membership! Want to attend but not a member? Join here: https://historicbeverly.net/product/historic-beverly-membership/
