Beverly’s Enslaved and Freed

November 2 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Free – $10.00

Have you ever wondered about some of the first African-Americans in Beverly? In this program we will tell stories of some African-Americans and other people of color through objects and documents in Historic Beverly’s collection, whether mentioned in ship cargo logs, wills, bills of sale, newspapers, and many other documents, including some associated with anti-slavery organizations. Join as at the Cabot House or online as we discuss how some of Beverly’s citizens either participated in the trade of enslaved people of color or worked toward Abolition, and highlight the formerly enslaved and free Black population within Beverly’s early history.

Hybrid; In person at the Cabot House and online. In person tickets may be purchased at the door on Saturday; virtual ticket sales close at 10:00 the day of the program.

$10; free for members of Historic Beverly and Card to Culture
