Beverly Farms is a small village in the north east corner of Beverly 4 ½ miles away from the center of Beverly. The Farms was known for its long green fields and deep woods; the land was used for farming for over 200 years because of its fertile soil. The most common crops produced from the land were hay, Indian corn, rye, oats, barley and potatoes. Over time that farmland changed into an affluent waterfront neighborhood filled with grand houses and gardens making it a summer respite for many along Beverly’s old coastal shore and giving it the moniker “Beverly’s Gold Coast.” This 2 mile walking tour of Beverly Farms, as a self-sustaining village and one of the hidden gems in Beverly, offers a small glimpse into the heart of this dynamic Beverly neighborhood.
